Finding Your Summer Balance
Summer is not only a fantastic time to unwind, but it is also an opportune time to be highly productive. Our tendency during the summer is often to kick back and put a lot of stuff on the back burner. True, we are better able to do so during these middle months, but too much downtime can cost us. I, for one, like to avoid overindulging in the temptation to over- relax during the summer because the extra time I have during the warmest season also gives me a multitude of additional hours to get things done.
At the end of the day, as with a lot of other things, it all comes down to balance. Your summer schedule should involve a solid mix of both relaxation and productivity. Do you struggle with finding that balance? It can be challenging at times.
Because we have now entered the last month of the summer, here are some straightforward guidelines that may help you make the most of your remaining time:
- Identify your desires in terms of vacation and downtime. Do you want to take any trips? Work shorter hours? Sleep in longer in the morning? What is your desired schedule? And what can you realistically afford and squeeze in?
- Figure out what tasks and projects you hope to complete. Are there things that you want to accomplish at work or at home but never seem to have enough time for? Can you easily complete them in August? Why…
